
Truck Driver Job Description
1. Duties vary from hauling equipment, materials and at times loading and unloading said equipment and materials with no help.
2. You will be expected to drive different vehicles and perform duties that are not directly that of a haul driver.
3. Occasionally you will be expected to stay a night or two out town.
4. You are responsible to maintain a logbook and inform Am-Rail if you are near your legal hours of operation. Am-Rail will not pay logbook violation citations!
5. You will do a daily inspection as required by law of each vehicle that you operate
that day. If you have a problem with non-working lights or bad tires or any other problem with your vehicle, you are to immediately inform your supervisor. If you inform Am-Rail of a problem and are informed to go on, any citation received because
of that problem will be Am-Rail’s responsibility.
6. You are responsible to make sure that the registration and proof of insurance are in each vehicle you drive before pulling out of the yard. Am-Rail will not be responsible for any citations incurred because of failure to obey this law.
7. You are responsible for the proper loading and weighing of the load. You will be
reimbursed for the expense of the scale. If you fail to weigh the load and you go on
your own, Am-Rail will not pay for any citation incurred. If you inform Am-Rail of
a weight problem and are told to go ahead “as is,” Am-Rail is responsible for any
citation incurred.
8. If you purchase fuel out of your pocket, you are to fill out an expense report with the receipt attached in order to be reimbursed. If you receive a fuel card, you are to fill out the fuel card report each week, attach all receipts, and write on each receipt the mileage. These are to be turned in to Jerry or Lori each Friday.
9. You will be responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle, including its safety appliances, keeping the vehicle clean and orderly, ensuring material and equipment are safely and properly stored on or in the vehicle (this would include removing defective tools from the vehicle tool storage areas.
10. If the vehicle is equipped with a crane and you are assigned the responsibility of operating the crane, you will be responsible for operating said crane safely.
